YESTERDAY

Here we present one of our latest recordings. We have chosen “Yesterday”, a famous song of The Beatles which is known worldwide. With “Yesterday” we offer a distinct and casual style of our string quartet image. We hope that you will enjoy it as much as we do!

EuroQuartet Barcelona meets PHILIP GLASS

Philip Glass y EuroQuartet Barcelona

On April 27 EQ BCN members had the opportunity to attend the “Philip Glass Band” sound proof because of their European tour, which was also presented in Barcelona. The event took place at the Palau de la Música Catalana. It was a great chance to know maestro Philipp Glass in person. He is one of the main figures of the minimalist music style that still dominates a good part of American music. Glass is also a composer who is a point of reference for many contemporary artists. This is why EQ BCN could not miss the appointment.

The “Philip Glass Band” was formed by three wind instrumentalists including saxophones and flutes with two keyboard players. Even Glass was playing with them. We loved the photo shoot with the great musician and minimalist composer. We also had the time to talk about our string quartet musical tastes and preferences. Glass advised us to discover one of his favourite works, “String Quartet No.5”! So we will follow his advice and we will work on very soon!

There was another surprise: Linda, one of his keyboard players had given us the scores for a String Quartet that she wrote by herself. How exciting it was! It was very nice to feel that she was also interested in EQ BCN.

After the photo shoot, the chat and the autographs we share with you some of our pictures. It was a memorable weekend.

EuroQuartet Barcelona at Camp Nou

EUROQUARTET BARCELONA AT CAMP NOU

A couple of months ago we have recorded the hymn of Barça in its probably the most classical version. We did that in the studio of Pep Sala with an expanded musical training of EuroQuartet Barcelona. The musicians were playing Barça’s hymn by playback before the start of the match. EuroQuartet Barcelona has played in front of more than 80.000 fans without counting the thousands of spectators who followed the broadcast of the event on television and internet. Surely for EuroQuartet Barcelona it was an exciting experience and a good way to be recognized.

CONCERT WITH LLONGUERAS

Llongueras and EuroQuartet Barcelona

A couple of years ago we have received a very interesting proposal. It was also one of the most unusual and fascinating EuroQuartet Barcelona’s concerts. The performance took place at the “Caja Madrid” concert hall in Plaça Catalunya (Barcelona). The concert was together with the famous hairstylist Lluís Llongueras and the subject was “The Beatles analyzed by the artists”. Llongueras was a real fan and a true expert of the Liverpool quartet. He commented by microphone one to one the pieces of The Beatles which were performed by EuroQuartet Barcelona with a special string quartet arrangement. With seating capacity completely, the four musicians played very well the full repertoire of The Beatles: since 1963 with the Beatles-passion, until to the hippy-psychedelic era with songs as for example “Lucy in the sky” or “Sgt. Pepper” between one song and another. Llongueras has explained and commented briefly each song with the evident enthusiasm of the public. It was a really fun concert that left everyone wanting more. We take this opportunity to greet Llongueras and his elegant wife which were very nice and attentive with us.

A. Vivaldi – Concerto Grosso Op.3 No.8 EuroQuartet

Antonio Vivaldi – Concerto Grosso Op.3 No.8 EuroQuartet Barcelona

EuroQuartet Barcelona likes very much to work with other musicians. We present you a majestic interpretation from a fragment of the 3rd movement of the Concerto Grosso for two violins and orchestra composed by Antonio Vivaldi. Our first violin, Piotr, is interpreting one of the main roles, with one of our most frequent partners, Olga Jeczmyk, which in this case is the head of second violins and the soloist. The peculiarity of this fragment is that the leading role is not the first violin as it is usual. We can appreciate that Olga, the second violin, is the one who is in control with a difficult accompaniment of Piotr followed by Luca Ceruti our viola and Jakub Jeczmyk, cello who is also one of our most frequent partners. We invite you to discover this musical jewel played by these great musicians.
